Amethyst Crystal

Description Amethyst is a violet to purple variety of quartz prized for its rich color and clarity. Colors range from pale lilac to deep, saturated purple. Crystals form in geodes, clusters, points, and polished tumbled stones. Natural amethyst often shows zoning—areas of lighter and darker color—adding character to each piece.

Origins Common sources include Brazil, Uruguay, Zambia, and Madagascar. Color intensity and clarity vary by mine; some deposits yield large, deep-purple crystals, while others produce lighter, translucent material.

Amethyst is used for

Meditation and spiritual practices: Employed as a focus stone for calming the mind, enhancing intuition, and supporting spiritual growth.

Energy work and crystal healing: Used to promote relaxation, balance the crown and third-eye chakras, and aid in stress relief; note that these uses are complementary and not substitutes for medical treatment.

Sleep support: Placed under a pillow or on a bedside table by some people to encourage restful sleep and reduce nightmares.

Feng shui: Positioned in living spaces to invite harmony and a calming energy.
